Routes To Export

How To Get a Certificate Of Conformity

The below diagram outlines the routes available for occassional, frequent and high volume exports to Tanzania. The routes are explained in more detail below the diagram.

Occasional Exporters (Route A)

Consignment of Regulated Products are required to undergo the following evaluation process in order to obtain a Certificate of Conformity (CoC):

  • Physical inspection of goods which includes verification of the product labelling, instruction manuals, packaging, and other necessary markings and physical requirements mandated by the Tanzanian Standards and Technical Regulations.
  • Testing according to the applicable product safety Standard or Technical Regulation by an accredited laboratory such as Intertek.
  • Issuance of CoC on successful evaluation of Test Report and physical inspection report.

Frequent or High Volume Exporters (Route B and Route C)

For frequent or high volume Exporters / Manufacturers with shipments of homogenous products for supply to Tanzania.

Registration and Licensing is highly recommended and can be used for multiple shipments for a period of one year from its date of issue:

  • Manufacturers/Exporters must demonstrate that their products comply with the Tanzanian Essential Requirements, Technical Regulations and approved Standards
  • An assessment to be made that products meet the level of compliance required before Registration/Licence is granted
  • Factory Audit of the manufacturing sites to ensure compliance to Standard(s) is required for Licensing of the products.
  • CoC will be issued on the basis of the valid Statement of Registration (SoR) or Licence and successful selective inspections of shipments
